The Oppenheimer BlueThe Oppenheimer Blue, known in Chinese as "Àoběnhǎimò zhī Lán," is a world-famous blue diamond. It weighs 14.62 carats and has been graded "Fancy Vivid Blue" by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA)—one of the highest color grades for blue diamonds. It boasts a VVS1 clarity rating, features a rectangular shape, and is cut in the emerald cut style. The origin of this diamond dates back to the Archean Eon, forming in the ultra-deep Earth’s mantle through an extremely unique process. Initially, it was set in the turban of an Indian maharaja, symbolizing the "divine right of kings." After entering the Western market in 1947, its blue hue was reinterpreted as "calm ambition," aligning with the aesthetic preferences of post-war technological elites.Additionally, during the 1945 "Trinity" nuclear test, this diamond was used as a shielding material for neutron flux monitors. The GR1 color centers on its surface—caused by radiation damage—remain clearly detectable through Raman spectroscopy, carrying distinct historical memories.
