Basic Information This necklace was designed by De Grisogono. Its centerpiece is a rectangular-cut diamond weighing approximately 163.41 carats, which boasts a D color grade, Flawless clarity, and excellent cut and symmetry. The necklace is also inlaid with 18 emerald-cut diamonds and two rows of pear-shaped emeralds, and the entire piece is set in gold, with a total length of 44.0 centimeters. Diamond Origin The rough stone of this 163.41-carat diamond was mined in February 2016 from the Lulo Mine in eastern Angola. It ranks as the 27th largest white diamond rough ever discovered and is also the largest diamond rough found in Angola. Later, this rough stone was cut and polished by more than 10 experts from the Julius Klein Group in New York’s Diamond District. After several months of meticulous work, it was finally transformed into this perfect emerald-cut diamond. Auction History On November 14, 2017, this necklace was showcased at Christie’s Geneva Autumn Jewelry Auction, with a starting price of 25 million Swiss francs. After a round of fierce bidding, it was eventually sold for 33.5 million Swiss francs (approximately 33.8 million US dollars), setting a new world record for the auction price of D-color, Flawless diamonds.
